Being new to Zurich, or even having lived here for a while, finding a good restaurant can be tricky. Even if you’re fortunate enough to happen on a good restaurant, chances are, it’ll be gone soon (RIP Hofküche, Elle’n’Belle, and Movie).
Even though our first passion is and will always be delivering good, affordable, and quick laundry services to you, we also enjoy food (how else would we get the nourishment to work on delivering those services to you?).
So, here’s our pick of the best restaurants in Zurich, whether you’re a student, young professional or are just looking for a hassle-free place to take your kids.

YARDBIRD – Poultry Poetry

This one is a newcomer but is quickly making a name for itself in the Zurich restaurant scene. Located in the historic district of Wiedikon, Yardbird is able to offer sophisticated southern fried chicken with delightful variations on seasonings, sauces and sides. This restaurant is best enjoyed during a hot summer’s evening. Our tip: The “American Dream”.

SMITH AND DE LUMA – Funny Fungis

Having perfected the art of aging beef using a proprietary technique called “lume meat”,  whereby the meat is prepared using a carefully selected mold, this Steakhouse boasts an excellent wine collection in the up-and-coming District 3. While the prices are not for the faint of heart, Smith and de Luma is excellent for a fancy date or after-work dinner. Our tip: Take a couple of “lume” meats to share and don’t skimp on the wine.

YUME RAMEN – Yummy Yume

This is without a doubt the best ramen place in Zurich. Conveniently located just off of Europaallee, this quaint little place (no reservations unless you’re 6 people or more) is one of Zurich’s best kept ramen places that somehow has yet to be overrun by bankers and consultants (so don’t tell them about this place).
Our tip: The Tantanmen Ramen

FIVE SPICE – Five Spice up your life

Yes, we know, taking a song title from the Spice girls and incorporating it into the title of this entry may be a bit overblown. What isn’t overblown is the praise we have for this Thai restaurant located at Lochergut. They stand out among all the Thai restaurants in Zurich due to….well, you guessed it…the way they use their spices. Somehow all the Thai meals that you think you knew already just taste better here. There’s also a second restaurant in Wiedikon if the first one is full.

Our tip: The Pad Kraprao.

LA COTE - Classy Cuisine

We’re staying in Wiedikon with our next tip.
This Restaurant embodies old-fashioned sophisticated and classy French cuisine, curated by the Stäheli Family (Ruedi Stäheli, the founder, was one of the leading Swiss experts for French cuisine in Switzerland and his family are proudly carrying on his legacy). A cozy, homely atmosphere which is rounded off by great French food (and not the kind that’s more “for-show” , the food here will make you full).

Our tip: The Entrecôte Café de Paris with whatever wine the waiter recommends!

RESTAURANT KRONENHALLE - ZUERI ZONE

First thing’s first: You’ll need a reservation for this one. This is probably one of Zurich’s best-known restaurants. Anyone who’s anyone in Zurich (and therefore, Switzerland) has either had a business dinner, a family reunion soiree or an exclusive social event here. Some may say its best days are behind it but if you’re truly a «Zürcher», you do need to pay a visit to this traditional Swiss Restaurant.

Our tip: The Zürcher gschentzeltes with Champignon.

CHURRASCO - FEISTY FOOD

It’s difficult to find a good Argentinian Steakhouse in this neck of the woods. Especially one with a wine list as good as this one. Don’t worry if you don’t know the first thing about Argentinian meat or their prized dry aging of their beef, this restaurant is perfect for people that are looking for an easy entry into the world of fine Argentinian dining. Even though this is a fine dining establishment, the don’t skimp out on the meat here. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a relaxed soiree with friends and family.

Our tip: The «Lomo Argentino»

GAERTNEREI - Beautiful Bowls

The perfect place for a “power lunch”, either with business colleagues, with friends or with casual social acquaintances. With three stores in Zurich (one in Oerlikon, one in Enge and another in in Seefeld), Gärtnerei specializes in salad and warm lunch bowls. You won’t even notice how healthy the food is, that’s how good it tastes.

Our tip: The “Rio One Way”

ONA POKE - Fish Fun

We’re staying with bowls. Located just off of Paradeplatz with a second location in Sihlfeld, this lunch establishment, popular with people from banking and consulting, offers sophisticated Asian fish bowls, which you can even customize yourself. Be sure to get in before the «lunch rush» otherwise you’ll have to wait in line.

Our tip: The «Tuna Laguna»
